Cellular toxicity testing
- An “MTT assay” is a test which quantitatively measures the cellular toxicity that occurs when an experimental substance is applied in various concentrations to the cells of various areas of application.
General toxicity testing
- In a “single dose toxicity test”, the effects of administering a single dose of the experimental substance to a test animal are evaluated by observing symptoms, changes in body weight, and through post-mortem analysis to test for toxicity occurring in the short term.
- In a “repeated dose toxicity test”, repeated doses of the experimental substance are administered to a test animal over a set period of time, and toxicity is evaluated over the medium and long term through physiochemical tests like blood tests, urine tests, and ECG, as well as post-mortem and histopathologic examination.
